Instagram engagement rate calculator

Type your followers and a post's likes, comments, saves and shares — or the totals of several posts. You get your engagement rate the way Oktio Verified calculates it, and how it compares with creators of your size.

No login, no Instagram password. It runs in your browser and nothing is sent or stored.

Your numbers

1 for a single post. Added up the numbers of several posts? Type how many — the calculator takes the average.

Calculated on your device. Nothing you type leaves this page.

Method

How the engagement rate is calculated

Engagement rate = the average number of interactions per post ÷ followers × 100. Interactions are likes, comments, saves and shares: the four numbers Instagram gives you in a post's insights. Oktio.app and the Oktio Verified certificate use exactly this definition; the certificate takes every post of the last 90 days.

Example: (1,200 + 80 + 150 + 70) ÷ 30,000 × 100 = 5 %

Why followers and not reach? Anyone can see how many followers you have, but only you see your reach. A rate against followers can be compared between creators; a rate against reach can't be checked from the outside.

Studies count interactions differently: some count likes and comments, some only likes. That is why the calculator compares each study with your rate counted the same way, and shows your full rate separately.

FAQ

Questions about engagement rate

What is a good engagement rate on Instagram?

It depends on your size: smaller accounts get more interactions per follower. In HypeAuditor's 2025 report (data from December 2024), likes and comments divided by followers came to 1.73 % for accounts with 1,000–10,000 followers, 0.68 % for 10,000–50,000 and 0.54 % for 50,000–500,000. Above your tier's figure is good.

Should I count saves and shares?

Yes, if you have them: they are part of the engagement rate in Oktio.app and on an Oktio Verified certificate. Instagram shows them only to the account owner, in its insights. The comparison with the studies always uses the interactions each study counts.

Why is my rate different in other apps?

Many apps divide by reach instead of followers, or count only likes and comments, so their numbers differ. This calculator divides by followers, like Oktio Verified, so brands can compare creators on the same basis.

How many posts should I use?

Several recent ones, not your best post: one viral or one weak post says little. Oktio Verified uses all your posts of the last 90 days; leave Stories out, they are not posts.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The calculation runs in your browser: nothing you type is sent or stored, and there is no Instagram login.
